Polyurethane foam vs. mudjacking
Both methods can raise settled slabs. The right choice depends on the concrete, soil, access, budget, and provider’s diagnosis.
Polyurethane foam
Lightweight and controlled
Expanding structural foam is injected through relatively small holes. It fills voids and can lift concrete in controlled increments, then cures quickly.

Mudjacking
Cement-based slurry
A heavier mixture is pumped beneath the slab through larger access holes. It is a long-established approach and may be economical in suitable conditions.

Neither method repairs damaged concrete
Lifting changes slab elevation and support. It does not make cracks disappear, reverse surface scaling, or rebuild crumbling edges. Existing cracks may close somewhat, remain visible, or move during a lift. A provider should set expectations before work begins.
How a provider should choose
The decision should account for the slab’s condition and weight, void depth, soil and moisture, access, required precision, nearby structures, and how soon the surface must return to use. Be cautious of claims that one method is automatically best for every project.
